The Wooten Center provides free afterschool and summer programs for students in grades 3-12, primarily in the South Los Angeles area. Several activities are available for teens ages 13+ via our MyCollegeTrek Program. The following are resources and upcoming activities for teens only: |

Summer Jobs Looking for a way to make money this summer? Several South LA-area agencies are accepting applications now for summer jobs for teens and young adults. Click on the button below for a list of contacts at Brotherhood Crusade, Hire LA's Youth, and more. Graduating high school seniors who are at least 18 can also apply for employment with Public Allies LA. Public Allies is a 10-month AmeriCorps paid internship program that focuses on personal and professional development and community service. Michelle Obama was an Ally! Join her! |

College Scholarships and more Students across the nation are busy reviewing college acceptance and financial aid award letters offered by schools. We strongly encourage pursuing scholarships instead of the loans typically offered in the financial aid packages. To apply for scholarships, go to www.fastweb.com. Wooten partners AKA Sorority, Inc. Tau Beta Omega and the Southern California Council on Black American Affairs are banding together to present this workshop for college-bound high school seniors. Business professionals and school administrators from both agencies will serve as mentors helping students prepare for their college experience. Current college students will also share. Topics will include eating healthy, managing time, joining extracurriculars, studying abroad, participating in work study and internships, etc. |

CollegeTrek Online A free virtual afterschool program for grades 3-12 Mon-Fri, 2-7pm | Through June 10, 2021 |

Private Tutoring and more Students registered in our afterschool program can receive up to three 45-min virtual private tutoring sessions per subject, per week, in math and English language arts. See the Bookings link in the Parent Portal to schedule sessions for our free i-Ready assessments and tutoring with homework assistance. Click here for our private tutors. Other afterschool activities include singing, virtual playground, robotics and coding, Minecraft (see pic above), World Languages and Culture With Cooking, and more. Summer Fun Camp A free hybrid summer program for grades 3-12 June 21 to July 23, 2021 |

Our youth center at 91st and Western in Los Angeles has been closed since March 2020, due to the pandemic. We are planning to reopen in the summer with a free five-week hybrid program with both online and onsite activities. We are planning to have up to 28 students coming two days per week at the center, with two separate groups for elementary and teens. Up to 60 students can participate online in private tutoring and other activities. Click on the button to register now. For more info, call (323) 756-7203. Planned activities include the following: Onsite Activities (Tue and Thu, 9am-6pm) Computer animation with STEAM:CODERS, and "Positive Energy" STEM classes with students creating solar and other renewable energy projects. Planned field trips include a park visit for "wind energy" activities flying drones, airplanes, kites and helicopters. The last day of our opening basketball camp will be held at the center. Online Activities (Mon through Fri, 2-7pm) Our Shawn Patterson Memorial Basketball Camp will take place our opening week, Mon-Fri, 10am-12pm (first four days online). Private tutoring will continue online, Mon-Fri, 2-7pm, in addition to our popular World Languages and Culture With Cooking class for parents and kids continuing on Wednesdays. |
